I've not been in the best place mentally this past week, but I wanted to work on the Junto assignment nonetheless. I managed to focus on the work at hand and produce a piece I'm reasonably happy with, though it's perhaps in and of itself rather reflective of my unsettled mind.
I wasn't able to start working on this at all until Sunday night due to other commitments, so it's been a little more hurried than previous submissions -- I'm finishing this upload a mere 90 minutes before the deadline. I had already chosen which of the samples I wanted to use, and followed a relatively straightforward process of layering three instances of each, which were sent through different chains of VST's, with the final combined output signal being processed by a final effect chain on the master. With both the guitar part and the birdsong, I had one instance as it came, one with the phase inverted, and one reversed.
The final result is, reasonably intentionally, both somewhat disorienting and somewhat psychedelic. I didn't have any strong influences here, beyond recalling stories about ayahuascha, a powerful plant based hallucinogen made by, as I recall, Amazonian tribes, and a dimmer recollection of something about the ghosts of birds.
